John "Scotty" Collins. 14 DEC 1940 — 7 MAY 2024



Proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces with a lengthy career in the airborne regiment – passed away peacefully with the love of his daughters surrounding him on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the age of 83 years. 


John “Scotty” Collins of Petawawa, husband of the late Jutta Collins (nee Schulte).  Legendary father of Joan Laporte (Frank), Petawawa; Mary Pfeiffer (Wayne), Petawawa; Kathy Migneault (JC), Kingston; Carol Collins (Tim), Ottawa; and stepfather of Marion Eid, Toronto.  Papa/Popa of Chelsea (Josh) & Tianna (Justin); Jessica (Blair) & Jonathan (Eliane); Colin, Jared & Maggie; and Scotty & Nicholas.  Great-grandfather of Quinn & Hudson; Rylie & Remi; Sadie & Easton; and Tyson, Dominic, Zachary & Emma. Son of the late Peter and the late Mary Collins (nee McKail).  Brother of Peter Collins (Elizabeth).  Uncle of Peter (Colleen), Joan (Al), David (Angela) and Trish (Nick).  Fondly remembered by many great-nieces & nephews, extended family and friends. 


Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Sunday, May 12, 2024, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Members of the Royal Canadian Legion are invited to gather for a Legion Service on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.  A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 11 Mohns Ave., Petawawa on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.  Respecting Scotty’s wishes, cremation will follow.  All are invited to share in a Celebration of his life at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 517 following the funeral service.  Interment of ashes in St. Columba’s Catholic Cemetery, Pembroke at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pembroke Regional Hospital Cancer CareOttawa Heart Institute or Miramichi Lodge would be appreciated.
