SCHOLARSHIP

APPLICATIONS ARE WELCOME FOR THE AIRBORNE FORCES SCHOLARSHIP.

This fund was jointly established by the Canadian Airborne Forces Association (CAFA) and the now defunct Airborne Regiment Association of Canada (ARAC). A $3000 bursary is awarded in August each year to one qualified and deserving applicant who will be attending a post-secondary institution in the upcoming academic year in a full-time programme of study. To be eligible, candidates must have been accepted on a full-time basis at a post-secondary institution and have demonstrated academic aptitude. Eligible applicants include current members of CAFA; spouses, children or grandchildren of current CAFA members (either living or deceased); members in good standing of a Cadet Corps that is affiliated with CAFA; or any current Army Cadet who is a qualified Canadian Forces Parachutist. Applications may be submitted in either English or French. The deadline for applications for the bursary each year is 30 June.

LES CANDIDATURES SONT LES BIENVENUES POUR LA BOURSE DES FORCES AÉROPORTÉES.

 

Ce fonds a été créé conjointement par l'Association canadienne des forces aéroportées (CAFA) et la défunte Association des régiments aéroportés du Canada (ARAC). Une bourse de 3 000 $ est accordée en août de chaque année à un candidat qualifié et méritant qui fréquentera un établissement postsecondaire au cours de la prochaine année universitaire dans le cadre d'un programme d'études à temps plein. Application

Applications may be made in English or French.  To permit processing and selection prior to the upcoming academic year, the following documents must be received by the designated CAFA Scholarship Chairman by or on 30 June at the latest:

  • Completed Scholarship Application in the format at Appendix 1 to CAFA SOP Number 3;

  • Proof of Acceptance at the proposed post-secondary academic institution. (If available but to follow if not); and

  • Academic Transcripts of the previous academic year and the current academic year when available. If the current end-year transcript is unavailable, an interim transcript reflecting the year up to and including the last term.

Candidates must ensure that copies of “letters of acceptance” from the proposed post-secondary academic institution and their “final transcripts of marks” have been submitted before any award will be made. Candidates who fail to provide the required documents on or by 30 JULY without valid reason, shall forfeit their standing.

Eligibility

To be eligible, candidates must have been accepted at a post-secondary institution and will have demonstrated academic aptitude. Candidates are limited to one award. Eligibility is as follows:

  • Members of CAFA, ARAC or other constituent associations;

  • Spouses, children, or grandchildren of an association member, (be the member living or deceased);

  • A member in good standing of a Cadet Corps affiliated with CAFA or ARAC; or

  • Any Army Cadet who is a qualified Canadian Forces Parachutist.

Ineligibility Criteria

Individuals who are currently approved to receive or are receiving educational grants from the Canadian government or from other national or international entities are not eligible to apply for the CAFA Scholarship Grant.
