2026 CAFA Scholarship Presentation – Carter Scheffold-Higdon

On Friday, 7 August, members of the Canadian Airborne Forces Association (CAFA) had the pleasure of joining the 2026 CAFA Scholarship recipient, Carter Scheffold-Higdon, and his family at the Fort Frontenac Officers’ Mess for the presentation of the CAFA Scholarship.

Carter will be attending Queen’s University this fall, where he will pursue a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree. His selection as the 2026 CAFA Scholarship recipient reflects not only his academic achievements, but also his leadership, commitment, discipline, and service to others.

Carter is a graduate of the Basic Parachutist Course, which he successfully completed in 2024, earning the distinction of Top Cadet. His accomplishments extend well beyond his military experience. He maintained four years on his high school Honour Roll and was actively involved in varsity rugby and wrestling.

Carter has also demonstrated strong leadership and initiative through his involvement with Ontario DECA, where he competed at both the provincial and international levels. In addition, he is a dedicated martial artist, teaching and training in karate and mixed martial arts (MMA) and holding a third-degree black belt.

Carter’s accomplishments are an excellent reflection of the qualities that the CAFA Scholarship seeks to recognize: academic excellence, leadership, character, discipline, and a commitment to personal achievement and service.

Le vendredi 7 août, les membres de l'Association canadienne des forces aéroportées (CAFA) ont eu le plaisir de se joindre au boursier CAFA 2026, Carter Scheffold-Higdon, et à sa famille au Fort Frontenac Officers' Mess pour la présentation de la bourse CAFA.

Carter fréquentera la Queen's University cet automne, où il poursuivra un baccalauréat ès sciences (Honours). Sa sélection en tant que boursier CAFA 2026 reflète non seulement ses résultats scolaires, mais aussi son leadership, son engagement, sa discipline et son service aux autres.

Carter est diplômé du cours de parachutiste de base, qu'il a terminé avec succès en 2024, ce qui lui a valu la distinction de meilleur cadet. Ses réalisations vont bien au-delà de son expérience militaire. Il a maintenu quatre ans sur son tableau d'honneur au lycée et a été activement impliqué dans le rugby universitaire et la lutte.

Carter a également fait preuve d'un leadership et d'une initiative solides grâce à son implication avec l'Ontario DECA, où il a concouru aux niveaux provincial et international. En outre, il est un artiste martial dévoué, enseignant et s'entraînant au karaté et aux arts martiaux mixtes (MMA) et détenant une ceinture noire de troisième degré.
